Indoor Cycling (Taught by Cristi Henderson, Valerie Oster, Ann Ottenhoff & Andrea Joy)
This class fits both beginners and advanced cyclists. Instructors provide a challenging ride that builds endurance and leg strength, but that can be tailored to individual levels and abilities. They guide you through the ride, but you decide your pace and level of resistance. (NOTE: Please arrive 10 minutes early for bike set up and instruction. Also, due to the popularity of these classes, we recommend calling ahead to reserve a bike. Reservations will only be taken after Noon the previous day. *Evening classes are periodically subject to time changes during summer camp schedules.)
Pilates (Taught by Fabiola Gonzalez-Lopez)
Pilates is a series of non-impact exercises designed to develop strength, flexibility, balance and inner awareness. This class involves a series of classic pilates exercises performed on a mat without equipment, but may use various props (e.g. flex bands, foam rollers, rings, light weights and balls). The instructor will pay special attention to alignment and form. Whether you’re a beginner or expert practitioner, this mat workout will strengthen the core, firm abdominals, improve coordination and balance, and tone hips and thighs.
Slow Burn Yoga (Taught by Katie Scarsella)
This alignment based class will focus on building a powerful and supportive breath that will guide and inspire each movement. Plan to explore a carefully selected series of postures which will be held longer than in a traditional vinyasa style class. These deeper holds will not only generate internal heat, detoxifying the body, but will also build muscle recognition, allowing the posture to be “felt” rather than just “done”. Change occurs when we are ready to let go of expectations and venture into the unknown. Please come prepared to sweat, breathe and finally, restore. All levels welcome.
Tai Chi (Taught by Susan Leithauser-Yee)
Tai Chi was developed as a fusion of martial arts and healing arts from traditional Chinese medicine. Gentle sun-style Tai Chi routines consist of gentle flowing movements which calm the mind and loosen the joints. Slow, continuous weight shifts train the body to maintain balance even in difficult positions. You will experience “moving meditation” in this tranquil class.
Total Strength (Taught by Marie Fachini-Kurily)
Come experience a full body strength training workout to improve your overall fitness. A mix of cardio (warm-up), strength training (weights) and mat work (abs/core) to gain toned, lean muscles. This class is excellent for all fitness levels and genders.
Yoga (Taught by Mary Walsh)
This class is non-intimidating, slower paced vinyasa yoga with emphasis on prana yama (breath work). This class is designed to enhance strength with flexibility, while reducing stress and invoking calmness and inner peace. Fun for all levels!
Zumba (Taught by Fabiola Gonzalez-Lopez)
Zumba is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance that is moving millions of people toward joy and health. The calorie burn rate and cardio-respiratory benefits are similar to those of running. This is an aerobics class, not a dance technique class. If your heart rate is elevated and you are sweating, you are doing it right! The fun factor will keep you smiling and coming back for more.
